Jordan joins the International Criminal Court

The Jordanian government on Monday ratified joining the international agreement on establishing and founding an International Criminal Court.
Jordanian press issued on Monday in Amman to this effect said that Jordan is considered among the fist countries to sign the agreement which was approved by an international conference held for this purpose in Rome in 1998.
The statement explained that in implementation of this agreement it was decided to form a Jordanian people's commission to back activities of this court.
Worthy mentioning that the rules of this court which has "the Hague " as a headquarter have come into effect as from Monday - June 1st - after it was ratified by 69 countries. The court is specialized in trying any person being a civilian or military accused of war crimes or crimes against humanity.
