Amnesty International calls Israeli measures in occupied territories collective punishment
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 6/29/2002
Amnesty International lashed out at the Israeli occupation forces' measures in the re-occupied Palestinian territories, calling them "collective punishment."
The human rights group Amnesty International says all West Bank Palestinians are suffering because of the Israeli operation which is also shutting down schools, demolishing homes and preventing food from being harvested or sold.
The London-based group says Israel's actions amount to a collective punishment of Palestinians. It is accusing the Israeli army of widespread human rights abuses.
Israeli forces have re-occupied seven of the West Bank's eight major cities killing several and wounding many. Under the pretext of destroying what it calls "terrorist infra-structures" in the West Bank, Israel has killed and wounded many civilians.
