New Israeli bombardment against south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 6/29/2002
The Israeli forces on Friday bombarded several areas on the Lebanese side of the Lebanese border with Israel. Lebanese security sources said that more than 20 155 mm caliber shells were fired at the heights of Jabal al-Saddanah and the hills overlooking Kafer Shouba hills and heights facing Burket Shebaa, Hassan gate and Burket Bathayel.
The sources noted the Israeli bombardment coincided with heavy machine guns fire from the Israeli positions in Rweiset al-Alam, al-Sammaqa and Tallet al-Ramtha and this resulted in settling fire in the fields, oak trees and orchards, adding that the Lebanese civil defense forces and the citizens were exposed to Israeli snipers fire from their positions when those Lebanese tried to extinct the fire which destroyed vast areas.
Meantime, an Israeli cement mixer escorted by several soldiers entered the Lebanese town of al-Ghajar in order to build a cement fence between the Lebanese borders and Israel.
