Moroccan women delegation inquires about situation of Palestinian refugees in Jordan
Jordan-Morocco, Politics, 6/28/2002
A delegation of Moroccan women visited the Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan where they inquired about the situation of refugee women.
The Moroccan delegation's visit is part of an international campaign of solidarity with Palestinian women on the theme "Against colonial war. For peace in the region."
The mission conducted by peace militants from the five continents was launched at a press conference held April 26 in Casablanca at the call of the Democratic Alliance of Women's Rights in Morocco.
Member of the Palestinian legislative council, Hanan Ashrawi, has made considerable efforts to enable the Moroccan delegation to visit the occupied Palestinian territories and meet Palestinian NGOs, after the refusal of the Israeli authorities, alliance secretary general, Fouzia Assouli, who is also coordinator of the International Mission for Peace coordinator said.
After the visit to the camps, the mission will conduct an information campaign to promote awareness of the international public opinion on Israel's human rights violations in the occupied territories, bloodshed and war crimes against the Palestinian women and children, Assouli said.
