Toujan al-Faisal vows to go after corruption
Jordan, Politics, 6/28/2002
Former Jordanian parliamentarian Toujan al-Faisal who was given amnesty by the Jordanian King Abdullah II after she was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment under the charges of undermining the state's sovereignty has stressed she will continue work to chase corrupters.
This was expressed upon her release on Thursday. Al-Faisal told journalists upon leaving the hospital where she was admitted following a deterioration in her health condition in prison that she will follow up all corrupters. "I will be as you always know me, but first I am in need to have a rest." Toujan extended thanks and gratitude to the Jordanian, Arab and foreign figures and organizations which called for her release.
Replying to a question on her opinion concerning the royal amnesty for pardoning her and the calls addressed to her to make self revision, Toujan said: " It is not an amnesty. I deserve to have been freed since the first day ( in jail)." Toujan seemed very tired upon leaving the hospital. She walked laying on her daughter Diana and headed directly home.
