Egypt probes US peace initiative
Egypt-USA, Politics, 6/27/2002

The Egyptian Presidential Political Advisor Osama Al Baz said that Egypt is currently studying the Middle East peace initiative floated by US President George Bush.

During the coming few days, Egypt will declare its stance towards the US initiative to highlight the positive and negative sides as there were important points that were never mentioned, said Baz.

In a forum in the National Planning institute, Baz said Egypt would study how to benefit from the US initiative to achieve peace in the region and means to improve the initiative, as it is not to be taken as a whole.

Baz underscored the need for urgent moves to end the present crisis towards establishing a Palestinian sovereign state.

He reiterated Egypt's stance that Israel should withdraw from all occupied territories after 1967 war including Syrian and Lebanese soil.
