Al-Turk sentenced for two and a half years imprisonment
Syria, Politics, 6/27/2002

The state's supreme security court on Wednesday issued its decision concerning Riad al-Turk. The court convicted him of the crimes attributed to him in the accusation sentence at five years imprisonment.

However, the court gave alleviation reasons for the released sentence as the convict admitted of what he was accused of and said openly before the court that he said " tough words and he does not want to be the spearhead of sedition, nor to pour fuel on fire as this country ( Syria ) is besieged by the US and Israel."

As a result of all that and after given estimated alleviation reasons the court reduced his imprisonment sentence from five to 2 and a half years.
