Moroccan cereal imports drop by 16%

Moroccan imports of cereals, between June 2001 and May 2002, dropped by 16%, to reach 4.58 million tons, compared to the corresponding period of the previous campaign.
The inter-professional cereals office (ONICL) said the decrease concerned mainly soft wheat, heard wheat and barley. Morocco's main suppliers are the USA (17%), France (15%), Canada (13%), Germany (13%) and Ukraine (13%).
The office also says that at May 2002, reserves were estimated at 0.97 million tons, an increase of 21% compared to the corresponding period of 2001.
