Morocco, Tunisia renew support to Palestinian people's legitimate struggle
Tunisia-Morocco, Politics, 6/14/2002

Morocco and Tunisia have renewed backing to the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people and condemned Israel's aggressions against the Palestinian people and their territories.

The support was voiced by the two states' Prime Ministers, Abderrahmane Youssoufi and Muhammad al-Ghanoushe, at the opening in Tunis Wednesday of the 10th session of the Moroccan-Tunisian high joint commission.

The two men, who denounced the massacres perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people, called on the international community to take action to protect the Palestinian people and force Israel to comply with UN resolutions, the land-for-peace principle and the initiatives put forth by the international community to establish a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.

They also called for the withdrawal of Israel from all occupied Arab territories in Syria and Lebanon, underlining there cannot be no peace nor security in the region as long as the Palestinian people have not recovered all their rights and Israel has not withdrawn from all occupied Arab territories.

In his address, Youssoufi also touched on the challenges thrown at the Arab-Islamic world and the efforts required to preserve the image of Islam as a religion of peace and co-existence and thwart all attempts to associate Islam to terrorism. He called on the Arab-Islamic community to foster solidarity to serve Arab-Islamic causes.
