Eight Palestinians killed by Israel, new settlement built in West Bank
Palestine-Israel, Military, 6/13/2002

After he had made talks in Washington described as fruitful, the Israeli prime minister arrived in London to hold talks with the British prime minister Tony Blair.

Meantime, the Israeli forces continued their acts of breaking into the Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza and this resulted in killing 8 Palestinians and arresting scores of them including the deputy secretary general of the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine Abdul Rahim Mallouh, who is also member of the PLO executive committee in his house in Ramullah and also the secretary of the Fatah movement in al-Beera Abdul Baset al-Shweiki.

The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot said the settlers have established a new settlement in Ramullah district in order to expand and enlarge the number of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Worthy mentioning that more that 50 settlement units were built in the West Bank since the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon assumed power in Israel in 2001.

Meantime, groups of al-Aqsa martyrs and of the "national resistance groups," the military wing of the democratic front for the liberation of Palestine said that a joint group, representing their two sides, carried out a military attack against an Israeli position near al-Shuhadaa crossing to the south of Gaza. A joint statement by the two sides said that the group clashed with the Israeli soldiers of the position and this resulted in direct hits, noting that one member of the group was killed.
