Two new charges against Arif Dalila
Syria, Politics, 6/13/2002

The attorney general at the supreme state security court in Damascus has added two new charges to the list of accusations addressed against Arif Dalila which are defaming the President of the Republic and violating the state's dignity; the information collected in records taken to him while he is in prison. A matter which provoked his protest on the way the evidence was collected.

One member of the defense team for Dalila said that the "attorney approved previous charges addressed to Dalila which are the attempt to change the constitution illegally, provoke armed unrest, attempt to weaken nationalism and undermining the financial fame of the country, in addition to the aforesaid two recent charges," noting that recorded tapes for the accused persons inside the prison during former detentions were used for addressing additional accusations to them.
