Oil refinery wastes to be incinerated in cement kilns
Morocco, Economics, 6/12/2002
The cement manufacturer Holcim (ex-Cior) will henceforth proceed to incinerating in its kilns the hydrocarbon solid wastes of the oil refineries of La Samir in Mohammedia and Sidi Kacem.
A convention on an environment friendly treatment of hydrocarbons wastes was signed in Mohammedia Monday by Holcin chief executive officer, Yousef Ennadifi, and Samir general managing director, Abderrahman Saa?di.
Under the accord, Holcin will have the exclusivity for five years to incinerate the solid wastes of Samir, whose oil refining capacity is of 7.75 million tons.
The wastes are produced by the oil drilling equipment, the paraffin treatment units, the used water treatment stations, the cleansing of hydrocarbons storage bins and sanitation works.
Holcin treats wastes produced by other industries and incinerates in its kilns worn out bank notes (1200 tons per year), the wastes produced by quarries (100 000 tons), cardboard, paper and plastic (10 tons par an), flying ashes of power stations (10,000 tons), and worn out tires (3,200 tons).
