Cement plants spend LE 600 million to conserve environment

Egyptian Minister of Public Enterprises Sector Mokhtar Khattab said the Egyptian Cement plants spent about LE 600 million to adjust their positions in line with environment standards and dispose of their dust in healthy way.

He said the adjustments are part of the development process. They will increase production and upgrade the quality of products to increase profits.

He stressed that the modernizing of the enterprise sector would continue to go ahead despite the high costs involved.

Khattab who toured yesterday a fertilizer plant in Talkha, Mansoura, added that there are 178 companies affiliated to the enterprises sector including 111 managed to adjust their environmental positions.

"The remaining companies will join within two years in coordination with the environment affairs agency and local councils," he said.
