A dialogue on Information Technology between the Arab League, the UN
Regional, Economics, 6/11/2002

A meeting will be held at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) in Cairo on June 18 through 20 to discuss means of using Information Technology in development. The meeting will be held under the AL general secretariat's special committee in collaboration with the UN general secretariat.

In 2001, the UN General Assembly issued a decision that recommends to convene this sectional meeting between officials at the UN general secretariat and the Arab states sector, according to divisions of the UN -- represented by the Arab League, and that the sector of Asia and the Indian Ocean at the political affairs at the UN to prepare for this meeting.

Invitations were extended to all specialized agencies and organizations and UN programs that have activities related to cooperate with the AL in order to take part in this meeting which will be in the form of dialogue between the two sides.
