Palestine-Israel, Military, 6/11/2002

The Israeli forces, backed by more than 70 tanks, armored vehicles and helicopters broke into the two cities of Ramullah and al-Beera, Beitonia town and al-Am'ari camp and besieged the headquarters of the Palestinian authority, destroyed several houses and launched a vast campaign of arrest that targeted scores of members of the Palestinian police and in addition imposed curfew on the already stormed into areas.

While Israeli sources said that the Israeli forces will stay in Ramullah until the completion of its mission, Palestinian sources said the Israeli army arrested during the breaking in operation 77 Palestinians including three members of the Palestinian police and took them to an undisclosed place.

The Israeli forces also occupied a press center for several Arab and world TV stations in Ramullah and broke into Jaba village to the north of the West Bank and demolished several Palestinian houses and carried out a campaign of arrest at al-Aroub camp.

One Palestinian was killed and two other wounded in al-Am'ari camp during exchange of fire with the Israeli forces when these forces broke into the areas surrounding Ramullah.

As the Israeli forces were breaking into the city of al-Nasera, Jenin, Jaba' town, Beit Awa, Azzoun and Toulkarem, the Israeli forces once again broke into Toulkarem city and its camp and started to open fire at the Palestinian houses before inspecting them. The Palestinian youth Oni Joudeh died in one of Khan Younis hospital because of wounds he had earlier from the Israeli forces.

One Palestinian teenager girl (13 year old) and 34 were wounded in an explosion that took place in a house at Jabalia camp to the north of Gaza.
