A special trial session for Riad al-Turk

The Syrian higher state security court on Monday held a fifth special open trial session to try Riad al-Turk. Monday's trial session was dedicated to listen to the defense lawyers.

The defense lawyers asked the court to postpone the trial session until Thursday, June 13, 2002 so as to be able to meet with their client (al-Turk) to consult over the defense memorandum they had prepared for him..

The chairman of the Syrian court commission approved the request and the trial session was postponed until Thursday to hear statements of the defense lawyers.
