Bahrain to privatize telecommunications sector

Bahrain has decided to found a commission to supervise the liberalization of the telecommunications sector.
In its Monday's issue the Bahraini English- language daily Bahrain's Tribune said Bahrain's crown prince Salman Bin Hamad al-Khaleifa recommended to take this decision in order to put an end to the monopoly by the telecommunications company in Bahrain BATELCO for the sector of telecommunications.
Worthy mentioning that the BATELCO company is a shareholder company of which the government owns 39%, while 20% is owned by British company Cable and Wireless while shareholders own 41%.
