UAE president hold talks with Pakistani counterpart
United Arab Emirates-Pakistan, Politics, 6/11/2002

President of the United Arab Emirates UAE Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan on Monday in Abu Dhabi discussed with President of Afghanistan Pervez Musharraf the tense situation between India and Pakistan and the efforts made to contain the crisis between the two countries.

Sheikh Zayed stressed the need of defusing tension between India and Pakistan by dialogue and understanding and exerting all possible efforts to bring together the two neighborly countries to settle their differences by peaceful means, so as to preserve security and stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, the Pakistani President arrived in Abu Dhabi in an official visit to UAE that lasts for two days.

Meantime, a Pakistani government's official said that the aim of Musharraf's visit to the UAE and then to Saudi Arabia is to brief the two countries with the situation between India and Pakistan.

Musharraf's visit comes following intensive international diplomatic efforts to alienate the ghost of war off the two nuclear countries, India and Pakistan.
