Syrian- Lebanese summit expected today in Lattakia
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 6/10/2002

News reports issued by the Lebanese al-Kifah al-Arabi daily said Saturday issue spoke of an expected Syrian- Lebanese summit to take place in Lattakia ( coastal Syrian city) today on the occasion of the 2nd death anniversary of the late Syrian President Hafez al-Assad.

The sources said that Presidents al-Assad and Lahoud will discuss during this summit "hot files" at the regional and local levels, especially the question of the international peace conference on the Middle East which Washington seeks to convene in Turkey in July, despite reservations shown by Syria and Lebanon on its objectives and usefulness.

The sources also expected that the intensified internal condition in Lebanon because of the parliamentary elections in al-Matin region will be also discussed during the Syrian- Lebanese talks.
