Egypt-USA, Politics, 6/8/2002
At their meeting in Camp David, yesterday Presidents Mubarak and George Bush examined ways of reactivating the peace process in the Middle East in the light of the proposals made by President Mubarak for breaking the current deadlock mainly the need for setting up an independent Palestinian state by early 2003 and the need for Washington to draw up a timetable for a final peace process between Israel and Palestinians in order to end the conflict which has plagued the region for more than half a century.
Presidents Mubarak and Bush will resume their summit meeting today for continuing their consultations and will hold a press conference in order to declare the results of their talks.
Prior to meeting President George Bush, President Mubarak said he would ask President Bush to draw up the details of a peace plan and a timetable for a final peace process between Israel and the Palestinians in order to end the conflict within two or three years.
