Libya's people's committee did not discuss pullout from Arab League
Libya-Regional, Politics, 6/8/2002
Media sources that the agenda of the 23rd meeting held by the people's general committee for the Libyan cabinet held on Thursday had no discussions a draft resolution relating to Libya's relations with the Arab League.
In its Friday's issue, the London based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily said that this is viewed as an official indication on Libya's intention to postpone debating this issue at the meantime in response to the request made by the secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa who in May paid a short visit to Libya during which he met with the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi and appealed to him not to take any decision that will freeze Libya's membership in the AL or even to withdraw from it in protest of the week performance of the AL towards current developments in the occupied Palestinian territories -- on the care to revitalize joint Arab programs and not to disturb works of the AL's general secretariat.
