Peres: The Arabs should forget the return back of Palestinian refugees
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 6/8/2002

Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres said that he had explained to all Arabs who held talks with him that the Palestinians have to forget about the right of return because its implementation means taking over Israel.

In an interview with the Israeli radio on Friday, Peres said that several sides in the US propose a formula for maintaining a settlement that provides for evacuating certain Israeli settlements in Gaza and the West Bank for the Palestinians to give up the idea of the right of return, noting however, this formula is not considered a plan by the US administration.

He said that the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat does not move to fight terrorism despite his commitment to the Oslo agreement and that the Palestinian police was formed for this purpose ( fighting terrorism).
