Moroccan premier: Socialist International Session in Morocco, a backing to Palestinian cause
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 6/1/2002
The holding in Morocco of the Socialist International council will not harm the Palestinian cause but, on the contrary, it is a backing to this cause, said Moroccan premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi who, in his capacity as first secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), is vice-president of the association.
Answering criticism over the presence of an Israeli delegation in the session, Youssoufi told the Moroccan TV channel (2M) such a top level meeting will be an opportunity to make justice to the Palestinian people. He went on that such an important meeting is a gain for the Palestinian and Arab peoples, as the Middle East issue will top the agenda and the USFP is proud to make the Palestinian voice heard in this international forum.
The Socialist International Council opens this Friday in Casablanca to look into peace and security in the Middle East, the great lakes, the India-Pakistan conflict, the situation in Byelorussia and Columbia.
