The Algerian minister of the Interior Nour eddine Yazid Zarahouni announced on Friday that the National Liberation Front won the total majority in the legislative elections that took place on Thursday.

The minister said that the National Liberation Front received 199 seats of the total 389 seats of the parliament.

The National Coalition Party occupied the second position while the national reform movements came third. These elections in Algerian are characterized by the failure of al-Nahda movement and the introduction of the Algerian National Front to the parliament for the first time.

Meantime, APS quoted the minister as saying "The number of women deputies at the people's national assembly (Apn) passed from thirteen (13) to twenty five (25) following general elections ... the national democratic rally (Rnd) reached the second place with 48 seats, followed by El-Islah (43 seats) and the movement of the society for peace (38 seats). Independents reached 29 seats, the workers party 21 seats, the Algerian national front 8 seats.
