Australia for strengthening trade, economic relations with Libya
Libya-Australia, Economics, 6/1/2002

Australia announced on Friday it will seek to restore back normal relations with Libya in a step aiming at strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries following 15 years of the closure of the Australia embassy in Tripoli because of political differences.

The Spokeswoman for the Australian foreign ministry said that the Australian government has reviewed its relations with Libya in light of the international developments and its national economic interests and decided to work for restoring back these relations.

The spokeswoman added that Australia is to cancel several regulations that limit dealing with Libya in the banking sector and air services, and exportation of goods in oil, gas and civil aviation industry.
