Israel installs a barbed between Shebaa, the occupied Golan
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 6/1/2002

The London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat said Friday quoting Lebanese security sources as saying that the Israeli army started the installation of a barbed fence along the line separating the Lebanese Shebaa farms and occupied Syria Golan heights. The paper said this is the first translation of news which talked of Israel's intention to withdrawal from the Shebaa farms in order to pullout the pretext from the Hizbullah party to continuing its military action in the region.

The Lebanese security sources added in its statement to al-Sharq al-Awsat that the Israeli forces started to install the barbed fence on three parallel lines at a height of one and a half meters along the line separating the Shebaa farms and the Syrian Golan, adding that Israel has also started building defense positions at the new lines. In Riyadh, the Saudi daily Okaz said that the Israeli occupation forces will withdraw shortly from the occupied Shebaa farms.

In its Friday's issue quoting sources close to the Lebanese resistance the paper said that the Israeli army ended building the electrical barbed fence which separates the Shebaa farms from the occupied Golan and removed surrounding fortifications of its positions in the farms.

The paper, according to the same sources, did not rule out an Israeli sudden escalations by Ariel Sharon in order to cover the withdrawal operation.
