US activists defy UN sanctions on Iraq; Voices in the Wilderness
Iraq-USA, Politics, 5/31/2002

"A delegation of World Conscience Association and Voices in the Wilderness Organization arrived in Baghdad Wednesday. The delegation, which organized a journey, coming by foot, in solidarity with the people of Iraq against the continued sanctions and US-British aggression, was received at the outskirts of Baghdad by Head of Iraqi Friendship, Peace and Solidarity Organization Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashimi," INA reported.

"Al-Hashimi told reporters, Iraqi news agency and world news agencies that the delegation's initiative "expresses their great love to Iraq," appreciating their feelings and stances which support Iraq," the Iraqi news agency INA said.

Al-Hashimi said "This initiative affirms rejection of continued sanctions on Iraq which were imposed in contrary to the human laws." It is noteworthy that the delegation started an afoot journey from Tribil border point towards Baghdad last Friday, INA reported.

The Chicago-based Voices in the Wilderness Organizations always organized campaigns and demonstrations all over the United States, aiming at disclosing the US administration bids to prolong the UN sanctions, defying the US government which threatened the organization's members of great penalties if it organizes the journey, according to INA.
