Turkey says upcoming period to witness rise in trade exchange

Turkey's ambassador in Egypt Aykut Cetirge said the Turkish investements in Egypt totaled so far L.E. 150 million, in automobile manufacture, iron pipes, kitchenware, artificial oils and ready-made clothes machines.

The ambassador added that the Egyptian exports have many opportunities to access into the European markets following the concluding of the Egyptian-EU partnership.

He regretted the poor Egyptian investments in Turkey, amounted to only L.E. 30 million although the existence of Egyptian salable goods including cotton, rice, coal, razors and copper scrap.

Cetrige pointed out the upcoming period will witness a rise on trade exchange currently stood at $ 511 million against $ 876 million in 1998. "The Egyptian-Turkish Joint Committee will convene within the coming few months for boosting trade ties," he added.
