Tunisia, Khartoum want regular meetings to strengthen relations

The Tunisian foreign minister al-Habib Bin Yahya and his Sudanese counterpart Mustafa Othman Ismael on Wednesday signed a Tunisian- Sudanese memorandum of understanding aiming at strengthening consultations between officials in the two states.

The memorandum states to found a special committee at the level of the two foreign ministers to meet regularly to discuss political issues of mutual interest as well as following up bilateral cooperation files.

Bin Yahya considered that the work visit which has been carried out by the Sudanese foreign minister to Tunisia since Sunday was an opportunity to revive cooperation between Tunisia and Sudan in all fields.

For his part Ismael said that the Tunisian- Sudanese relations availed discussions of regional and international issues of mutual interests.

The Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali received the Sudanese foreign minister during the visit and the Sudanese minister handed over President Bin Ali a message from his Sudanese counterpart Hassan al-Bashir and an invitation to visit Sudan.
