Bush needs to hear Mubarak view, US legislator
Egypt-USA, Politics, 5/30/2002

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received Tuesday member of the US House of Representatives Darrell Issa who voiced his appreciation for the efforts President Mubarak exerts to achieve peace in the region.

The discussions touched on consultations scheduled to be held between Mubarak and US President George.W Bush at Camp David in June, as well as regional issues, Issa said.

Mubarak is not only an Egyptian leader, but also a regional one who can give advice at both the regional and international levels, the US legislator said.

A number of economic issues were discussed at the meeting, but the focus was on the recent decisions issued by the Arab League and the Palestinian crisis, Issa said.

Asked about his current regional tour, Issa said it was aimed to continue dialogue with the region's leaders on seeking a peaceful settlement to the Middle East crisis.

A meeting including all regional countries may be held in July or August to negotiate final steps towards settlement, he added.
