Kuwaiti exhibition opens in Casablanca
Morocco-Kuwait, Economics, 5/29/2002

An exhibition of Kuwaiti products opened in Casablanca on Tuesday part of efforts to enhance cooperation ties between Morocco and Kuwait.

The exhibition features plastic-made products, perfumes, pesticides, foodstuff and others.

The services furnished by the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA, Kuwait Airways and the fund of oil companies are also showed to the public. The exhibition will down curtain on May 30.

Moroccan economy, finance, privatisation and tourism minister, Fathallah Oualaalou, who dedicated the exhibition, lauded cooperation bonds binding the two Arab nations. He cited, in this connection, the fruitful cooperation existing between Morocco and the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development, which has extended Morocco 26 loans worth US$ 772.8 million since 1966.

The official announced that he will pay a visit to Kuwait on top of a strong delegation of businessmen with the aim of consolidating commercial and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Despite the problem posed by geographic remoteness, Kuwait can serve as a gateway for Moroccan products to Asia, and Morocco can play the same role for Kuwaiti products to Mediterranean and European markets.

Kuwait ambassador to Morocco, Salah Mohamed Baijane, said Kuwaiti economic operators are showing a growing interest in Morocco given the brotherly ties binding the two countries. He mentioned, in this regard, the participation of a Moroccan-Kuwaiti Consortium in financing several economic, tourism and real-estate projects in the North African country.

Promising horizons were opened for bilateral cooperation following the conclusion of accords on investments and non-double taxation, he said.
