Moroccan Speaker meets NATO Peer, Bulgarian officials
Morocco-Bulgaria, Politics, 5/29/2002

Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives (lower chamber), Abdelouahed Radi, met Monday in the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia, speaker of the parliamentary assembly of the North Atlantic Alliance Treaty Organization (NATO), Rafael Estrella.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the spring session of the NATO parliamentary assembly, Radi expressed Morocco's worries about the dangerous escalation in the Palestinian territories and continuous aggressions conducted by the Israeli army against the Palestinian people.

He also reiterated the Arab states' attachment to peace, based of international resolutions, the principles of the Madrid conference and the Arab peace initiative adopted during last March's Summit in Beirut.

Radi conferred with several Bulgarian officials, mainly Bulgaria's prime minister, king Simon II.

The Moroccan speaker conveyed to the prime minister the salutations and recognition of the Moroccan king and people for Bulgaria's stand over Morocco's territorial integrity.

King Simon II said he is proud of the cooperation ties between the two countries, and lauded Morocco's political and economic development efforts.

Radi also reviewed with speaker of the Bulgarian general assembly, Ognin Guerdjkov and foreign minister Solomon Passi bilateral relations.
