Morocco launches at cannes Marrakesh cinema festival

Morocco took advantage of the massive presence of cinema professionals and journalists in the Cannes Festival to launch the 2nd international Marrakesh movie festival to be held next September 18-22.
Advisor to King Mohammed VI, Andre Azoulay, told over 300 figures from the motion picture and critics present in Cannes, the Marrakesh event ambitions to compete with other international cinema events and has adopted a feature of modernity and openness. It is also meant to promote the success of Moroccan cinema by giving local professionals a chance to meet internationally-renowned stars and movie-makers.
A colloquy on "cinema and religion" is featured as a side event of the festival to bring together intellectuals, directors, and religious experts. The festival will also honor movies produced in Hong Kong, India and Canada.
The Cannes festival was also an opportunity for the Marrakesh festival promoters to present incentives offered by Morocco to movie-makers who will find attractive and competitive facilities, scenery, natural landscapes and professionals.
