Efforts to stop Palestinian martyrdom operations
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 5/29/2002

The French weekly news bulletin "TTA" said on Tuesday that efforts are being made now to halt "martyrdom operations" in order to resume political negotiations.

The bulletin said that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat asked the Arab states to contribute to convincing the Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movements to stop these operations after the two People's and Democratic Fronts for the Liberation of Palestine joined the camp which rejects halting of these operations.

The bulletin indicated that each of Jordan and Egypt are effectively taking part in the efforts made by the chairman of the preventive security department in Gaza col. Muhammad Dahlan to convince the Palestinian forces to halt the operations against Israel.
