Khatami gets a message from UAE President

The Iranian President Muhammad Khatami on Monday in Tehran received a message from President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan dealing with bilateral relations and conditions in the Middle East region.
The message was handed over by the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed during his meeting with the Iranian President on Monday.
President Khatami stressed the need of strengthening and developing cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Khatami said that Iran's policy is based on eliminating tension and strengthening cooperation with all countries in the world especially the neighborly states. He stressed that Iran seeks to establish typical relations with the UAE, noting that any tension or unrest in the region will be reflected on the world as a whole.
The Iranian president also called on the Islamic states to maintain further solidarity and unity in support of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
Sheikh Hamdan, on the other hand, stressed the identical stances between the two countries in bilateral issues and international matters noting his country's desire to strengthen and developing relations with Iran.
Meantime, the spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry Hameed Rida Asefi said that the talks held by Hamdan in Tehran are positive and are being held in an atmosphere of understanding, friendship and peaceful coexistence.
In his daily press briefing, Aseifi stressed the desire of both Tehran and Abu Dhabi to strengthen their joint relations for supporting peace and security in the region.
