Iraq's cooperation with the UN was in vain
Iraq, Politics, 5/27/2002

The Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan said on Saturday that Iraq seeks through its dialogue with the UN, whose third phase will start in July, to reach a just agreement away from giving concessions from any side and completely in compliance with the content and spirit of UN resolutions concerned especially resolution no. 687.

In Saturday's issue, the Iraqi daily al-Joumhoreyah ( the republic) quoted Ramadan as saying that the UN resolutions concerned should be used as a means to settle suspended issues between the two sides especially those pertinent to cease fire.

Ramadan explained that the first two rounds of talks were not enough to propose view points by the two sides and the third round is to continue these talks.

On the return back of UN inspectors to Iraq, Ramadan stressed that his country completely cooperated during 7 and a half years with the committees concerned, but in vain.
