American official and the Syrian- American dialogue

A high ranking American official has described the dialogue which was held between Syrians and Americans in Houston, organized by the James baker Institute for public policy at Rice university and aiming at developing American - Syrian relations as very useful.
The American official who asked not to be identified said that despite the fact the two countries are making official regular government's contacts, these talks, however, were the first opportunity since years to a frank participation of a sector representing various groups of Syrians and Americans regarding large scale of issues.
The Syrian embassy in Washington did not answer the request to comment on making such a dialogue.
