Egypt believes in joint international action to fight terrorism
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 5/25/2002
Egypt's UN Ambassador Ahmad Abul Gheit said that his country puts much store by establishing an effective and active dialogue with all international agencies fighting terrorism, especially the Security Council's commission tasked with the mission.
In statements last night, Abul Gheit referred to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's long-standing call for holding an international conference on addressing the roots of terrorism and agreeing on a definition of the phenomenon.
Abul Gheit made the comments following Egypt's depositing additional information and reports with the SC commission which sprang from Security Council resolution 1373 issued on September 28 of last year.
The additional data reflect the recent legislative accomplishments in Egypt, with emphasis on the passage by the Egyptian People's Assembly a few days ago of a law on combating money laundering.
