King Mohammed chairs ministers council meeting; judicial and financial reform

Morocco's King Mohammed VI chaired Thursday at the Royal Palace in Rabat a meeting of the Ministers' Council.
The Council examined and approved several draft laws, decrees and international conventions, said Hassan Aourid, official spokesman of the Royal Palace.
The sovereign got informed on the march of the education sector. The higher education minister informed the Sovereign on the normal march of the sector and the unfolding of exams on their due time.
King Mohammed VI also got informed on the situation of the rural world. The agriculture minister made a report on the results expected after the abundant rains that contributed to filling dams.
Based on the interest King Mohammed VI grants to justice and its importance in the consecration of the rule of law, the sovereign approved an amendment to a draft law related to the higher institute of magistrature, endowing it with the statute of legal entity and with financial autonomy.
The sovereign also approved a draft law governing the control of financial institutions, the present system being outdated as it does not take into account the Kingdom's strategic orientation in matters of liberalization and the limitation of the rule of the state according to a vision privileging flexibility in practice and firmness in control.
Keen on protecting the interests of citizens, King Mohammed VI approved a law organizing the sale of under construction real-estate, which included shortcomings harmful to citizens, and this to ease access to property.
The Council adopted a decree setting the deadlines related to the exceptional revision of general electoral rolls. The new registration applications will start on May 28 and will end on June 16.
In accordance with Morocco's orientations in matters of struggle against terrorism, the Council approved the international convention reprimanding the financing of terrorism and setting rules for the tracking of authors.
The council also approved the international convention against international crimes.
