Lahoud: Lebanon is committed to principles to resistance as a choice
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 5/24/2002
The Lebanese President Emi Lahoud on Thursday on Thursday stressed Lebanon's attachment to just and comprehensive peace, based on international legitimacy resolutions and the land for peace formula.
During his meeting on Thursday in Beirut with a delegation representing the Lebanese army leadership President Lahoud said the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of liberating south Lebanon -- from the south and the Eastern Bekaa -- coincides with worrying changes taking place in the Middle East region as a result of the Israeli decision to undermine the ME peace process.
He added that in confrontation of these changes "we confirm our support to all efforts made to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region, besides we still consider that the option to resistance is still among the solid national principles." The Lebanese president also hailed the memory of the martyrs of the Lebanese army and resistance, stressing Lebanon's commitment to liberating the Lebanese prisoners and detainees from the Israeli jails -- who from inside the Israeli detention centers continue their resistance of the Israeli occupation.
