ISESCO, Egyptian fund sign cooperation agreement
Egypt-Regional, Education, 5/23/2002
A cooperation agreement was signed in Cairo Wednesday between the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation in Africa.
The agreement aims to back ISESCO African member states in elaborating school syllabi and organize awareness campaigns in the fields of education, healthcare, and environment.
It also seeks to modernize education programs, applied learning and professional training, fostering scientific research activities in African countries, preserving Islamic monuments in Africa and training handicraft people.
The two parties are bound, by virtue of the accord, to set up alphabetization centers in the African member countries, particularly in remote areas, and back training programs and sessions for the children with specific needs and African women.
They also agreed to activate regular programs to expand the Arab language and Islamic culture in Africa and promote programs related to writing the African peoples' languages in standardized Arabic police.
