Dominican Republic's president arrives in Morocco

President of the Dominican Republic, Hipolito Mejia, arrived in Morocco Wednesday on an official visit at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.

President Mejia, who is accompanied by his spouse will hold talks with King Mohammed VI who will also host a dinner in honor of the Dominican presidential couple.

The two countries will sign a package of cooperation agreements including an investments guarantee and protection agreement and a partnership accord between the foreign investments departments, says the Dominican office of investments promotion (OPI-RD).

OPI-RD's manager says in a statement that the head of state's visit heralds a new era in political and trade relations between the two strategically-located countries with a privileged access to European, African and Arab markets.

For ambassador of the Dominican republic, based in Paris, bilateral trade, currently focusing on agri-food should be diversified. He said the Dominican president will be meeting on May 23 with Moroccan businessmen and international economic operators doing business in Morocco to present investment opportunities in his country.

This is the first visit by Mejia to African country.

President Mejia's entourage includes Hugo Tolentino Dipp, secretary of state for foreign affairs, Norman De Castro, Dominican republic's ambassador to Morocco and Danilo del Rosario, head of the investments promotion department.
