US warns American not to visit tourist sites in the Arab Gulf area
Regional-USA, Politics, 5/23/2002

The package of instructions made by the US state department to the Americans warned them against possible attacks in addition to the Middle East, the countries of north Africa and tourism sites.

A statement by the US state department circulated on Wednesday evening said there is increasing concern that certain elements will plan to attack American persons and interests and also against tourism sites trodden by westerners in the Arab Gulf, the Arab Peninsula and north Africa.

The statement added that American citizens might be a target for kidnap operations. This warning, however, replaces a previous one issues on April 24th and was dedicated for the Middle East region.
