Ethiopia denies interference in Somalia
Somalia-Ethiopia, Politics, 5/23/2002
Ethiopia on Wednesday denied its interference in Somalia's affairs and accused it of arming one of the warring tribes and providing them with weapons.
Ethiopia's representative at the UN Abdul Majeed Hussein said in statements to the press that the fighting in the Southern Jeido district is a result of tribal conflicts and not Ethiopian interference of any sort in it.
Last week Somalia's representative at the UN called at the international organization to impose sanctions on Ethiopia, saying that Ethiopia's forces invaded Somali territories for several times since April and sent military supplies for several towns to the northern eastern part of the country.
The provisional Somali government says that weapons come from Ethiopia and that is a violation to the military embargo imposed by the UN.
