Palestinian cause undergoes dangerous stage
Regional, Politics, 5/22/2002
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa Tuesday said that the Palestinian cause has been passing through a juncture ever since the division of Palestine.
In an address he gave at a meeting with the Faculty of Mass Communications students visiting the AL headquarters as part of their academic project to simulate the AL, he warned that the current attempts to "liquidate" the Palestinian cause would unleash chaos and lead to regional unrest.
Speaking about the irksome ailing the Arab nation, he reeled out those connected with the Palestinian cause, the troubles in Sudan and the threats to Iraq.
That is besides the nation's illnesses of development and retrogression and the vexations caused by the so-called "clash among civilizations", the attacks on the Islamic civilization and the increasing attempts to tarnish the image of Arabs and Muslims.
The Arab organization's chief admitted the shortcomings of the Arab media programmes of action stressing the Arab nation's need to develop a new media drive to address the outside world and explain the Arabs' stands, traditions and beliefs.
The 21-member Arab League was created on March 22, 1945. Its aim is to promote economic, social, political and military cooperation, mediate disputes and represent Arab states in certain international organizations.
