Tenet to meet Israeli, Palestinian officials on security issues
Palestine-USA, Politics, 5/22/2002

The US White House advisor for the national security advisor Condoleezza Rice on Monday evening said that the director of the CIA George Tenet will shortly meet with Israeli and Palestinian officials in order to discuss with them security issues.

She added that dates and venues of the meetings are still under discussions and have not fixed yet. She added that Tenet will either head to the Middle East region and organize the meetings in another place in a nearby time.

She continued that Tenet is still keen to facilitate rapprochement among sides concerned and that he will start his mission when he considers he can achieve a progress towards what she described re-structuring the Palestinian security system.

However, the CIA director proposed in 2001 a plan on the warring sides carrying his name and states the need of taking a series of measures of which non was implemented in order to cease fire and facilitate resumption of political dialogue between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
