US official calls for Israel's withdrawal from the Palestinian territories

The chairman of the US-based Middle East Institute ambassador Edward Walker has called on Israel to immediately withdraw from the Palestinian territories and to start moving into establishing an independent Palestinian state. In statements he made in Cairo on Monday, Walker described the situation in the Middle East region as catastrophic as the basic infrastructure in the Palestinian territories has been destroyed instead of rebuilding it.
Ambassador Walker criticized the performance of the American administration towards the situation in the region, noting that the US does not exert all its efforts to reach a solutions that ends the tense conditions in the Middle East.
Walker continued that he will submit upon his return to the US a report to President Bush on the results of his tour in the region. A tour which covered in addition to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait.
