Qaddoumi meets with several Palestinian groups leaders

The chairman of the PLO political department Farouk al-Qaddoumi on Monday met with several leaders of the Palestinian groups which take Damascus as a headquarters.

News reports quoted the former chairman of the Palestinian national council Khaled al-Fahoum as saying that a meeting was held in his office on Monday included al-Qaddoumi and the secretaries general of several Palestinian groups during which they listened to information and details relating to latest developments on the Arab arena and Palestine. He added that these include the visit of the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to the US, the meeting held by the Arab foreign ministers last week in Beirut and the recent meeting of the Arab initiative committee in Beirut.

Al- Fahoum said that al-Qaddoumi stressed the need of commitment to the Arab peace initiative proposed by crown prince Abdullah as a starting point for convening a four- member committee to be attended by the US, Europe, the UN and Russia, together with the Arab states concerned in order to discuss the Palestinian question.

The participants in the meeting were quoted as asserting their great care to maintain the Palestinian national unity and to refuse any Palestinian split.
