Suez power station raises its own funds to increase capacity

It was decided to increase the capacity of Suez power generation station from 185 to 459 thousand kilowatt with investments of dlrs 120 million provided through loans, grants and self-funding by Misr Electricity Company.
The project aims at meeting the need for power; especially in northwest of Suez Gulf industrial estate, said Electricity and Power Minister Hassan Younis Friday.
All technical and feasibility studies for the establishment of two new power stations in Safaga and El-Qusir with a capacity of 650 thousand kilowatt each has been completed, he said, adding that an international tender would be announced soon.
The Minister spoke of current program on rehabilitating and renewing power stations across the country to upgrade its capacity and minimize its fuel consumption.
He asserted that most of the established power stations would be upgraded to use both natural gas and solar as fuel in light of the availability of natural gas resources in Egypt so as to decrease production costs.
