Expansion works in bibliotheca Alexandrina start

Expansion works in the Alexandrina Bibliotecha's Manuscripts Restoration Laboratory started, said Director Ismail Serag Eddin Sunday.
He added these expansions are aimed at keeping up with the future plans of the library, noting the process to provide training courses for manuscripts and books restoration specialists are continuous.
He said restoration specialists received training courses in Italy, Turkey, France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Youssef Zidan, director of the Manuscripts Department, said all the materials used in the restoration glue, paper, thread or leather are natural ones.
He noted the time restoration takes depends on the state of a manuscript of book, adding the department so far restored 140 rare manuscripts, 23 old maps and 25 books.
